One major aspect that gives Ballard so much life is that it is actually registered as a historic district within the city. Since Ballard is one of the central points of Seattleās sea-driven industry, you can find some incredible seafood restaurants along the streets of Ballard. If you love seafood and the ability to eat fresh fish that are caught and prepared daily, this region of Seattle is just the place for you.
We highly recommend tying Chinookās at Salmon Bay or Rayās Boathouse for fresh caught fish. On Sundayās, Ballard has a farmers market where you can go and pick up some local groceries and produce.

Ballard is not only a great place for raising a family, but it also has a great community for young professionals and singles as well. On Ballard Avenue, you can find a fun assortment of live music venues, specialty cocktail bars, and homey neighborhood pubs. There are all sorts of cool spots to kick back, meet new people, and enjoy some craft drinks and excellent food.

Since Ballard is a small, maritime-based town, tucked away in an inlet on the Pacific coast, they enjoy a fairly moderate climate year-round. The average temperature in the summertime never gets too hot, hanging around 60 degrees. During the winter, the averages typically stay in the ā40s and ā50s. Ballard is nice because you never have a season that is too hot or too cold.

If you are looking into raising a family while living in Ballard, you’ll be pleased to hear they have an outstanding school system. The high school graduation rate for Ballard is 4% higher than the rest of the city for Seattle, making it a great place for your children to go to school.

If you are planning on moving to Ballard, be prepared for a higher cost of living. When comparing Ballard to the rest of the country, the average cost of living is well above average, and when comparing it to Seattle, the cost of living is 2% higher than the city. Ballard is a nice, safe, beautiful place to live, but it will cost you to be there.

One aspect that any resident should be aware of when living anywhere is the level of safety that you are going to get in your city or your neighborhood. Ballard is not the safest part of Seattle, but the crime rate of Ballard is actually 39% lower than Seattle proper.

The good news is that the housing prices in Ballard are fairly stable, so you can at least make sure you’ll maintain the value that you invest in your home. The downside is that the housing market is 3% higher than Seattle, so you are going to have to shell out more for your home.

Even though you are going to be dealing with a slightly more expensive housing market in Ballard, you will be happy to hear that the average household income in Ballard is 14% higher than that of Seattle.
10. The Access to the City
When you are living in Ballard, you’ll be able to enjoy maximum accessibility to the City of Seattle. You’re just a hop and a skip away from Pike Place Market, The Woodland Park Zoo, the Seattle Art Museum, Kerry Park, Safeco Field, The Seattle Aquarium and so much more.
