Kirkland Washington is a suburb of Seattle with a population of nearly 90,000 residents. The…

With the mass-migration of people to the Seattle area, more and more cities are developing quickly in an effort to be desirable places for people to live. Amidst this scramble stands the city of Kirkland, which has admittedly always been a wonderful place to live.
Before looking up any Kirkland moving companies and moving to Kirkland, take a moment to familiarize yourself with the city and its heritage! Here are five things you (probably) didn’t know about Kirkland.
Kirkland is Almost As Old as Seattle
While our Kirkland moving and storage facilities are pretty new, the city has been around quite a long time! Kirkland was founded and recognized as a city in 1888. That’s three 8’s in a row; kind of interesting.
With Seattle being founded in 1851, Kirkland followed suit after a mere 37 years. The entire Puget Sound area is rich with the heritage of rapid development. How fitting that history is repeating itself today, in 2016. Our Kirkland movers are happy to help make you part of the city’s new history.
The City is Named for Mr. Peter Kirk
A forefather and founder of Kirkland, Mr. Peter Kirk opened one of the largest rolling steel mills in the area. The mill was aimed at helping to make rail transportation in the area much more viable. Peter Kirk’s mill created countless jobs for people in the region and helped to develop the city into what it is today. The city’s namesake naturally evolved from his contributions.
Today, railroads are not required for our Kirkland moving company. We’ve got trucks to handle that for us!
The Waterfronts of Kirkland Rival Seattle
You’ll be blown away by the views of the water in Kirkland. In fact, you can even see the Seattle skyline off in the distance. It’s much easier to appreciate it’s beauty from the waters of Kirkland as opposed to being trapped in Mercer traffic, right?
Specifically, Marina Park and Carillon Point marinas offer visitors with excellent access to downtown shops, dining, local events, and waterfront park sweeping panoramas. You may even catch our Kirkland movers enjoying a day off down in the sun!
Kirkland Has an Excellent Winery Presence
Wine has become more popular than it ever was before. Back in the day, people called “wine-o’s” were known for drinking cheap, bottom of the shelf wine because it was all that they could afford. Now, there are more designer wines than you know how to drink.
In fact, there are so many wineries in Kirkland that we have considered using our Kirkland storage facility to store a couple cases for ourselves…just kidding. If you’re a person who can appreciate the process of creating a fine wine, you’ll find many places in Kirkland that appeal to you. Here are a few that we recommend.
